The content remains strong, the connections have become even more sturdy throughout the years.

This year, as in infrequent other years, was truncated. I went up Monday evening and returned Wednesday. In between the keynote highlights were Cy Wakeman and Laurie Reutimann.

IF you are not going to at least your local, state or regional convention, why not? There are great ideas out there, great connections to be made, and most importantly a chance to become greater than you already are.

In the mean time, I’m now ready to start planning my next convention experience, the 2012 SHRM National in Atlanta. After I write connection emails to those new & old connections.

So why do I feel funny about this?

Loss of green space perhaps.

Work was under quoted, but a point of collaboration was achieved.

Time to head downeast.

How Will You Rise?

Today is the day that the son of the Christian deity rose into the universe to atone for the sins of his father’s believers. An act of redemption, sacrifice, love, and one size fits all atonement for those who so believe.

The Ishtar/Astarte/Easter fable is a linked evolution of spiritual allegorical metaphors that lives on through the symbols of this day. Ishtar, according to some myths, was crucified. Astarte’s symbols included the hare (Easter Bunny) and the egg (fertility). So, as your personal faith allows, wheter you are a christian, heathen, pagan, agnostic or atheist; when you decorate an egg, or bite into a marshmallow filled chocolate bunny, or in other smaller or greater ways; you are engaged in the allegory of atonement and redemption.

How will you rise today?

As I have written before, “IF every day is a new beginning, then every day we are nothing more than beginners.” Take this day, like every other day, and take one step further into beginning a life that is better than the one you lived before.

I ran over this several years ago. The first $25 cash gets it. Twenty-five dollar bills will be rejected.

The sun passes through the day. From darkness through dawn, then rise, pass, and set, into dusk and back to darkness.

The moon leads, lags and disappears. The face we see is always facing us. But changes in a known repetitive pattern.

Ourselves, we ebb, flow, rise, reverse, fall, lead, lag and disappear. We wake up, motion through the day, and return to slumber. Too often on autopilot. Too often without realizing, recognizing or noticing.

Cycles – believe in them.

It is time to pay attention to the world that I live in, the world I live through. So I will, through at least one full cycle. The hard data set sources include my Ambient Virtual Weather Station and the iPhone app Weather Quickie.

Data creates information that leads to knowledge and ends in discovery. Derived data is this information.

Unlike my life, which is cluttered with too many beginnings and too few endings, these cycles continue through transitions without beginning or ending. Well, they did begin once, but when was that? Derived data beyond the initial scope of this one full cycle.

This is about paying attention to the world that is lived in.

This is not a real picture. In fact, this is an offensive picture. There are only two Red Lobsters in New England. The closest Red Lobster is in New York State. To imply that this picture is co-located at the Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine is seriously mendacious.

But wait, there is more. RL is branding their newest restaurants off of an implied Bar Harbor motif that has no basis in reality.

You can buy Maine Lobsters, but have no right to the truth of the Maine Brand.

What is a phone person anymore?

Well in a traditional sense, it means a person who reaches to talk with others on a just because basis. This is what I mean. So I called my father and listened to him. Then called my mother and she didn’t answer. Perhaps I will call my brother & sister later on.

In this modern era. Right now, my phone is channeling some Eagles Live music, just now switching over to Enter The Haggis. Earlier today I used the phone to take some pictures of the GDO repair. Most importantly, the configuration of certain power supply wires. For fun, a picture of the worn out gears was posted on Twitter & Instamatic. When the work was done, I used my phone to take a self-serving video showing the door opening then closing and sent to my wife & son embedded in a text message.

Perhaps I already am a phone person. What do you think?
