I’ll take that as a compliment

Why and when do people exclaim and utter this trite phrase? It is usually in response to a slur, slam or discount when folks don’t like the truth being revealed to them. Sometimes, it’s the only retort of power when spoken from a postion of righteousness, or only being right. Everyone, well most everyone, wants an exception to policy. And yes, every situation has it’s own unique circumstance. But usually, being fair or unfair does not mean being uniquely fair. We all have a story to tell, a dream to weave. Practically speaking, I’ll take that as a compliment. That’s who I am. That’s what I do. Unless you have a better idea that you have the courage to exclaim out loud.
