Autumn Equinox Sunrise. Okay, so it’s one day off and early. This picture was taken from the top of Bradbury Mountain State Park. There are two others in the set, see MyFlickr. I really need to rename this set Sunrises and include my endeavors from the Rockland Breakwater and Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park.
I set up my park access the day before, since I wanted to be there for sunrise and the park doesn’t open until 9 AM. The park manager, Fritz, gave me permission and willingly agreed to only false lock the gate. Cool. Also, I said something out loud that I have never said before, “I am a photographer.” Until then, I was just a guy with a camera who took pictures.
5 AM up. 5:30 AM departure. 5:45 AM, hike up the trail in the waning moonlight. 6 AM – first picture taken. BTW, temperature at the house was 41.8 degrees. Zeus OS was my willing companion and enjoyed the hike and exploring the granite outcropping at the top of the mountain. His posed pictures can be seen at MyFlickr, his set. The last three pictures are new.
We stayed up on the mountain for an hour. Doing sunrise shots and manual photography trials for the MECA photography course I’m taking. The time was quiet and still. We heard cows mooing in the distance, chickadees up close, and crows here and there.
It was a great way to start the day. For the record, Fall starts on Monday, September 22, 2008 @ 1544 GMT.
