Nine Years Later

I marvel with every year that passes here on Thor’s Hill, my remote & rural peaceful estate. The stability of the sameness is good. Ten years ago, I was closing out a 21 year career of wandering, living where the US Air Force needed me to be. No longer. I am where I am because I want to be and where I need to be. Maine.

This place of mine isn’t much fancy. Two acres looking into a forest. If I try hard and the lights are on, I can see the neighbors, one to the east, another to the south.

Beyond what I see, it’s what I feel, seeing this same view. Contentment, serenity, snow, wind tossing tree tops. A not to be missed sunrise. This, I like. It is ME.
