My New Year’s Resolution is to Be Better.

The spirit and intent of all New Year’s Resolutions can be distilled down to two words or extended to four words.
Two words: Be Better.
Four words: Become a better being.

This is an act of existentialism. As defined by the Oxford Dictionary:

a philosophical theory or approach which emphasizes the existence of the individual person as a free and responsible agent determining their own development through acts of the will.

This is also an act of Free Will.   Again, turning to the Oxford Dictionary:

the power of acting without the constraint of necessity or fate; the ability to act at one’s own discretion.

This is an extension and application of the concept of continuous improvement through deliberate and disciplined lifelong learning.

The necessary mantra is: Today will be better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

What is your New Year’s Resolution?
