To what extent is your blog a place for your own self-expression and creativity vs. a site designed to attract readers?
This blog is for my eclectic self-expression and creativity. IF / THEN / WHEN a reader is attracted, I hope they find the content either useful, informative or entertaining. Reader attraction is appreciated but not an expectation.
My other blog, the Maine HR Cafe is more heavily promoted for professional readership.
How do you balance that?
No balance is required as this implies an unnecessary expectation.
If sticking to certain topics and types of posts meant your readership would triple, would you do it?
No. I write what is on my mind, perhaps for to the reader, not for the reader.
The true question is why do I write what I chose to share by typing out loud?
I write what I chose to share by typing out loud to clarify my own thoughts with my own voice. It’s a form of verbal noodling that exists to explore various paths until the right one becomes evident.
Some day, when I’m more comfortable & confident with my writing, my perspective will change.
