I never knew about the Great Schooner Race until this past weekend. For business reasons, I was in Rockland this past Friday afternoon. While driving towards the harbor, I was amazed by the sight of schooners under full sail entering , traversing & exiting the harbor. At the harbor park, below the Lighthouse Museum, a couple explained to me that it was the end of the Great Schooner Race.
What a sight to see, and now another entry on my bucket list – to be on the Victory Chimes for a schooner race in the future.
An interesting note about the Victory Chimes, at 40 passengers, it is the largest passenger vessel under the American flag. That means something.
