The Happy Wanderers

The Happy Wanderer – the daily prompt. What’s your travel style? Are you itinerary and schedule driven, needing to have every step mapped out in advance or are you content to arrive without a plan and let happenstance be your guide?

British Airways

My traveling style is both structured and ambiguous .  The answer is a big old, It Depends.  The airplane above took me to England for a ten day bus tour of England, Scotland, Wales.  Every day/night/step was pretty much well structured and mapped out in advance.

Other trips are less structured. For example, this RV trip to Downeast, Maine.

While we knew the destination, the events were more casual.  Day trips, whale watching, eagles soaring over head, watching the tide rise, sigh, and ebb.

Other days, we get out and wander along roads not yet gone to find hidden delights like this.

This on a road in between no where and somewhere.

Our style varies from the structure of a ten-day bus trip or a seven-day Alaskan cruise, to the destination matter and the discoveries will follow, to the destination is where we end up after wondering and wandering down the next road.  One day, we set the GPS to direct route and ended up on the side of a mountain, looking at a jeep track full of boulders~we declined to adventure further beyond reliable AAA tow truck rescue.

There is always another way to go.

Stay tuned for more from the House At The Edge of the Forest.
