Today’s assignment: follow five new topics in the Reader and five new blogs. A blog is just a diary unless there’s a community — start building yours.
This blog has given me freedom of expression… It has woken my creative side again… Who knows what I can become.. My life after fifty is great…. It’s all about me, me, and me…..
101 Books Now I have more books to read and/or avoid.
I’m going to read all 100 of Time Magazine‘s greatest English-speaking novels since 1923 (plus Ulysses). I don’t know how long it will take. After all, I’m married, I have 2 little boys, and I like to train for marathons. But hopefully I’ll get through this list before my eyesight goes bad and the interwebs stop working.
This one reminds me of my Harvard Five Foot Shelf of Books. I have a copy, now. Originally, I was introduced to this Five Shoot Shelf of Bartleby.com. That side has faded now. I found my set when clearing out my mother’s attic, as the property was being sold and the house torn down to become a park.
Blog #3: Discover Ayn Rand
Yes, I am proud to be a follower of the philosophy of Ayn Rand. I find that most critics of her Objectivism Philosophy have not opened their mind far enough to have read her writings. Instead, the atypical responses are repetitive mindless sound bites of nonsense.
The world will change when you are ready to pronounce this oath:
I swear by my Life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man,
nor ask another man to live for the sake of mine.
Site #4: I am a photographer. It took me awhile to make that declaration. I used to say that I am a guy with a camera. Thus denying my eye. One day, I decided to do an equinox sunrise from the summit of a nearby state park. I spoke with the ranger about predawn access with the justification that I was a photographer. Access was granted and on that day, I became a photographer. Here is my Flickr site. One of my most popular pictures.
# Five: Last but never least. A final random blog. For this one, I will be googling ‘Random Blog‘, and posting the most interesting result.
It doesn’t get any better than this.
