New ideas can become magical mental potion for open minds. An elixir of free radical thoughts. Take in as much new stuff as possible until the right creative choice presents. Today, let’s take a six step journey through the World Wide Web and see where the search term Elixir takes us.
I. The first search response yields this: Elixir is a dynamic, functional language designed for building scalable and maintainable applications. Ideas are the same thing – dynamice, functional & scalable.
Then what? The next half-dozen or so search results are from various dictionaries. Swirling variances around the same concept.
II. Welcome to Elixir “is a neighborhood bar that has been serving its neighborhood for as long as there has been a record of this corner (1858). now that’s some history!” ~~~ Now this will be a cool place to go to for one drink the next time I get to San Francisco. (My last trip to SF was in May of 1983 on our honeymoon.).
The next page or two of search results show a smattering of bars, restaurants, guitar strings and references back to the dynamic, functional language.
III. Elixir of life pops up as a Wiki site. The elixir of life, “also known as elixir of immortality and sometimes equated with the philosopher’s stone, is a mythical potion that supposedly grants the drinker eternal life and/or eternal youth. This elixir was also said to cure all diseases. Alchemists in various ages and cultures sought the means of formulating the elixir.”
Continuing on, the drink theme repeats.
IV. Hawaiian Tumeric Elixiers.
VI. And last, but not least, inspired by the direction of the thought, The Myth of Ponce Deleon & the Fountain of Youth. This is the true elixir we will all eventually seek – if not eternal then at least extended youth. There is a whole industry of snake oil salesman selling this promise.
That’s all I got, from the house at the edge of the forest.
